Hijo de el escultor Eduardo Chillida y Pilar Belzunce, es el menor de la familia <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Desde bien peque\u00f1o Eduardo muestra inter\u00e9s por el arte. As\u00ed, con cinco a\u00f1os realiza su primera escultura con tierra que le da su padre. Esta peque\u00f1a terracota nos muestra a una mujer sentada en una silla con los brazos posados detr\u00e1s de su cabeza y las piernas cruzadas. M\u00e1s que la habilidad en el hacer, lo que llama la atenci\u00f3n en la escultura es la visi\u00f3n pl\u00e1stica del cuerpo femenino que ya Eduardo ten\u00eda desde bien peque\u00f1o.   <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En varios dibujos de Chillida hechos a su hijo cuando era un ni\u00f1o, Edu aparece siempre pintando, ya sea sentado, o tumbado, pero con un l\u00e1piz y un papel entre sus manos.<br \/>Parece ser que su af\u00e1n por \u201cser artista de mayor\u201d como el declaraba, pudo m\u00e1s que sus ganas de estudiar. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tras un breve paso por la Escuela de Artes de Deba y el C\u00edrculo de Bellas Artes de Madid, donde tuvo el placer de recibir clases del pintor Antonio L\u00f3pez y tambi\u00e9n la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Madrid,<br \/>comienza a dedicarse primero a la escultura y posteriormente tambi\u00e9n a la pintura.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por aquellos a\u00f1os, todav\u00eda no hab\u00eda cumplido los veinte &#8211; entre los 17 y los 20 a\u00f1os &#8211; esculpe en piedra, alabastro, y trabaja tambi\u00e9n con terracota y bronce.<br \/>Pasa una temporada en el estudio de su hermano Pedro. Pedro, que es el mayor de los chicos Chillida y padrino de Eduardo, por entonces hab\u00eda estudiado la carrera de Filosof\u00eda y Letras y se hab\u00eda instalado en un estudio junto a la casa paterna. All\u00ed pintan y charlan los dos y cada uno da rienda suelta a su propio arte.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En 1985 Eduardo tiene un terrible accidente en moto que le hace permanecer en coma un mes y medio. Contra todos los pron\u00f3sticos m\u00e9dicos, Eduardo consigue salir de ese t\u00fanel oscuro, recuperar el habla, andar, y en fin, con mucho esfuerzo, incorporarse de nuevo a la vida normal. Por culpa de la<br \/>par\u00e1lisis de medio lado que sufri\u00f3 tras el accidente se ve obligado a volverse zurdo para poder continuar con la pintura.  <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Es entonces en el a\u00f1o 1986 cuando se traslada a Madrid con su hermano Luis a un piso de estudiantes. Una prueba para demostrarse a s\u00ed mismo y a los dem\u00e1s que puede desenvolverse por s\u00ed mismo. All\u00ed contin\u00faa pintando, pero no esculpiendo. Eso es algo que desde el accidente parec\u00eda que permanec\u00eda oculto por los adentros de su mente, hasta que en el a\u00f1o 2010, volvi\u00f3 a recuperar, retomando la escultura con el esfuerzo de su mano izquierda.<br \/>Al a\u00f1o siguiente, 1987, pasa una temporada de seis meses en Nueva York en casa de su hermana Susana.  <\/p>\n<p>All\u00ed, gustaba de pasear por Central Park y acercarse al Metropolitan Museum a ver como \u00e9l mismo dice, \u201ca mis amigos los pintores\u201d. Por supuesto siguiendo esa costumbre suya de pintar siempre all\u00ed donde vaya <span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); text-align: var(--text-align); background-color: var( --e-global-color-6b00cb9 );\">m\u00e1s de un par de d\u00edas, continu\u00f3 pintando en casa de Susana. El pintaba en un lugar y su cu\u00f1ado Eduardo Iglesias escrib\u00eda en otro. Susana entonces comenzaba a preparar su tesis doctoral en la <\/span><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); text-align: var(--text-align); background-color: var( --e-global-color-6b00cb9 );\">Universidad de Columbia.<\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En 1988, con 24 a\u00f1os y ya de vuelta a casa, realiza su primera exposici\u00f3n individual en Galer\u00eda Diecis\u00e9is de San Sebasti\u00e1n.En 1989 conoce a Susana Alvarez una periodista que trabaja en publicidad y en septiembre de 1991 se casan en Amasa, localidad guipuzcoana cercana a San Sebasti\u00e1n. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">duardo y Susana tienen cuatro hijos, Eduardo nacido en1993, Laura en 1995, Pablo de 1998 y Miguel nacido en 2004. Adem\u00e1s de la familia comparten tambi\u00e9n el trabajo, ya que su mujer se dedica a organizar las exposiciones de Eduardo y acompa\u00f1arle en toda su vida. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A lo largo de toda su carrera, comprometido con obras sociales, ben\u00e9ficas y religiosas, Eduardo ha participado en numerosas exposiciones ben\u00e9ficas, as\u00ed como en dos ocasiones, el Mural \u201cBeste aldean\u201d de la plaza Zuloaga y el mural \u201cHomenaje al Se\u00f1or\u201d en la Parroquia de San Sebasti\u00e1n M\u00e1rtir, ambos en su ciudad natal, San Sebasti\u00e1n, han sido donaciones, el primero para la DYA y el segundo para la Iglesia Cat\u00f3lica. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En 2010 Eduardo viaja a M\u00e9xico con Susana y permanecen en casa de Heberto Guzm\u00e1n, el cual le motiva a Eduardo para que retome la escultura. Es as\u00ed como enseguida de volver a casa comienza de nuevo a esculpir, a lo largo del 2011, 2012 y 2013 realiza una veintena de esculturas. <\/p>\n<p>En 2015<span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); text-align: var(--text-align); background-color: var( --e-global-color-6b00cb9 );\"> da un paso m\u00e1s, realizando seis grandes esculturas en bronce que se presentaron en la plaza<br \/>del <\/span><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); text-align: var(--text-align); background-color: var( --e-global-color-6b00cb9 );\">Louvre en Par\u00eds en 2017 y 2018 <\/span>mostr\u00e1ndose al p\u00fablico por primera vez.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Desde entonces, las esculturas han sido expuestas en diferentes lugares tambi\u00e9n emblem\u00e1ticos como el atrio de la Iglesia de San Vicente, la m\u00e1s antigua de San Sebasti\u00e1n o Londres, en Lower Grosvenor Gardens, un peque\u00f1o y delicioso jard\u00edn junto a Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n<p>En 2023, haciendo honor a su gran resiliencia, constancia y af\u00e1n de superaci\u00f3n, pinta un cuadro con la mano derecha, con la que hab\u00eda nacido h\u00e1bil y que perdi\u00f3 la movilidad en el accidente de moto de 1985.<\/p>\n<p>En 2024, al cumplir 60 a\u00f1os, el artista decide mostrar al p\u00fablico su faceta abstracta, esa que siempre ha estado ah\u00ed en el comienzo de todos sus cuadros y que despu\u00e9s cubr\u00eda con pinturas figurativas. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ser\u00e1 en Ibiza, en el Estudio Laterna, donde sus Or\u00edgenes abstractos saldr\u00e1n a la luz. Una vertiente muy<br \/>interesante, con potencia, car\u00e1cter y gran carga on\u00edrica.
